Flaschner 'Boats @ Anchor'

This bold painting by Alexander Flaschner (1903-1995) is signed and dated 1990 lower right. Fresh with vivid blues and yellows, oil on canvas. Flaschner was born in Hungary but painted in Paris at the studio of Lucien Simon (l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts de Paris). He described himself as a painter of "l'Ecole de Montaparnasse," and was strongly influenced by Cezanne and truly gifted in his provocative use of color in his post-impressionist style.
